AEC was founded by William H. Kirkpatrick Jr. in 1987, for the purpose of serving the needs of pond and lake owners throughout the mid-atlantic region. AEC currently works in the states of PA, MD, DE and VA.

Aquatic Environment Consultants, Inc. has been providing the highest quality pond and lake management since 1987. Over the years, we have become one of the most respected pond and lake management companies in the eastern United States. AEC offers a team of knowledgeable pond and lake management professionals who will utilize the latest techniques to improve and maintain aquatic ecosystems. At AEC, our goal is not simply to meet our clients' management goals, but rather to exceed them.

Personnel and Backgrounds

William H. Kirkpatrick
President; A.S. in fisheries and a B.A. in biology from Mansfield University in Mansfield, PA.

Bill was born and raised in Greencastle, PA. He went on to study fisheries and biology at Mansfield University; also adding post-graduate studies at Auburn University. Prior to starting AEC in 1987, Bill worked in fish hatcheries in Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Indiana. Bill is a past-president of the Midwest Aquatic Plant Management Society and previous board member for the Pennsylvania Lake Management Society. Bill has given many presentations on the management of ponds and lakes including presentations for: The University of Maryland, The Penn State Extension Service, Pennsylvania Lake Management Society, PA Department of Agriculture, The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, The Community Association Institute as well as many Golf Course Superintendent Associations. Bill is married to Carole, and elementary school teacher. They have a daughter Ashley and a son Hunter. Bill's interests include hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors and with his family.

Kevin B. Laite
Aquatic Biologist; B.S. in chemistry with a biology minor from Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA

Kevin got his start with AEC over several summers, beginning in 1992, while attending Shippensburg University. After graduating with a major in chemistry and a minor in biology, he worked for an aquatic toxicology lab in Hunt Valley, MD. Then in the spring of 1998 Kevin came back to AEC full time. Kevin was born and raised in Chambersuburg, PA where he now lives with his wonderful wife of 9 years, Deb. They have a young bundle of energy and mischief - their son, Riley. He keeps them on their toes, but in their free time they enjoy anything outdoors. They go hiking, biking and camping when possible. Kevin also enjoys working in the yard and spending any time he can get on the golf course. Kevin's summer routes usually take him to the areas around Harrisburg, York, Lancaster and Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. He also travels to Delaware, Maryland and Northern Virginia. Kevin appreciates all of the great relationships he has formed with pond and lake owners on his routes and looks forward to another great season.

Joseph V. Pinkerton
Aquatic Biologist/ Aeration Specialist; B.S. in geo/environmental studies from Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA

Joe was born in Lancaster, PA in 1978. He graduated from Conestoga Valley High School in 1997. He then graduated from Shippensburg University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in geo-environmental studies. Joe worked for two summers as an intern with Aquatic Environment Consultants, Inc. while attending Shippensburg University and has been with AEC since that time. He currently resides in Fayetteville, PA with his wife Amy and their young son Drew. Hobbies and interests include: hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, homebrewing, and Baltimore Ravens Football. Joe's work area is concentrated around South-Central, Northeastern, Western and Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Ryan M. Stumbaugh
Aquatic Biologist; B.S. biology from Millersville University in Millersville, PA

Ryan was born in Chambersburg, PA in 1982. After graduating from Chambersburg High School in 2001, he went on to study biology at Millersville University. While completing his studies at Millersville, Ryan was a letter winner for the Marauder Golf Team. He also worked two summers as an intern for AEC. After graduation, he went on to work as an Environmental Scientist for Landstudies Inc. of Lititz, Pennsylvania. When he is not on the job Ryan enjoys fishing, hunting, and golfing.

Arlene Carney
Secretary

Arlene was born and raised in Shippensburg, PA, and is a retiree from Letterkenny Army Depot. Before joining AEC in 2006, Arlene spent time as a secretary for Shippensburg Area Senior High School and secretary to the vice president at Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce. She loves traveling, golf, broadway shows and of course shopping. Arlene latest adventure was to China in the fall of 2007.
